Dr. Merritt Walker is a board-certified sports physical therapist and former Major League Physical Therapist for the Arizona Diamondbacks. He specializes in helping athletes recover from injury, improve performance, and return to competition with confidence.

Before founding Merrifield Athletics, Dr. Walker spent seven years in professional baseball, progressing from Minor League Physical Therapist to Major League Physical Therapist with the Diamondbacks organization.

 

In that role, he worked directly with Major League players, coaches, physicians, and front office personnel to develop rehabilitation, injury prevention, and performance programs using advanced technologies and evidence-based treatment strategies.

Dr. Walker earned his doctorate from Duke University and completed a prestigious Sports Physical Therapy Residency through Massachusetts General Hospital and Northeastern University. He is a Board-Certified Sports Clinical Specialist (SCS), a distinction held by only a small percentage of physical therapists nationwide.  

 

Throughout his career, Dr. Walker has worked with athletes ranging from youth competitors to professional baseball players. His experience also includes clinical and fieldwork with organizations such as the San Francisco 49ers, Toronto Blue Jays, collegiate athletics programs, and high school athletes.
